A new partnership between the SDG Library and the Upper Canada District School Board Parent Involvement Committee (UCDSB-PIC) is providing valuable resources for families across the region.
The UCDSB, through the work of PIC, has committed $13,000 to fund a collection of over 450 books housed at the SDG Library. The titles focus on topics such as mental wellness, addiction awareness, emotional development, diversity and inclusion, and post-secondary planning.
“As an avid reader and advocate for free and accessible resources… I’m delighted that the UCDSB-PIC has been able to partner with the SDG Library to give UCDSB families access to books that will support them,” said Samantha Kutowy, UCDSB-PIC Co-Chair.
Rebecca Luck, Director of Library Services, added, “This partnership reflects our shared commitment to education, wellness, and lifelong learning.”
The full collection is available to browse at sdglibrary.ca and can be delivered to any of the SDG Library’s 15 branches or requested via interlibrary loan.
UCDSB Vice-Chair Lynda Johnston praised the initiative, stating, “The SDG Library has been an excellent partner. These books will support both students and families, at home and in the classroom.”
