Cornwall welcomed over 6,000 visitors as the 41st Annual Face Off Tournament kicked off recently. Hosted by the Cornwall Girls Hockey Association (CGHA), wth more than 62 teams competing across arenas in Cornwall and Long Sault, the event spotlighted elite girls’ hockey from Ontario, Quebec, and the United States.
“This tournament has been a tradition in Cornwall for over four decades,” said CGHA President Mike Turcotte. “We’re thrilled to once again welcome teams for a celebration of competition, teamwork, and the growth of girls hockey.”
Local teams had a strong showing. The U13A Cornwall Typhoons clinched gold in a thrilling double overtime win over Lac St-Louis. The U11A Typhoons went undefeated to secure their championship title. The U18AA Lady Royals topped the podium with a 3-0 victory over Cornwall’s OHA Prep, while the U15AA Lady Royals were also crowned champions.
