The Cornwall Colts’ push continued with back-to-back wins, giving them nine of a possible 10 points over their last five games and keeping them third in the Yzerman Division.
January 22 at Ed Lumley Arena, Cornwall rolled past the Ottawa Junior Senators 8-3. Colby Lauzon scored twice, Luc Lampert had three assists, and Joe Vida added four helpers as the Colts went 2-for-3 on the power play. Gabriel Poitras faced heavy work, stopping 49 of 52 shots.
Two nights later, the Colts followed with a 4-1 win over the Hawkesbury Hawks. Lauzon opened the scoring on the man advantage, Wyatt Warner added two, and Brandon Rockwell finished it, with Camden McCuaig picking up two assists. Poitras turned aside 23 of 24 shots.
Cornwall (20-18-1-1) sits one point ahead of the Navan Grads, who have four games in hand. The Colts were scheduled to visit the Pembroke Lumber Kings January 25, but the game was postponed as a Yellow Snowfall Warning called for 15 to 30 cm of snow, poor visibility, and gusts up to 50 km/h.
At the CCHL All-Star & Prospects Showcase Jan. 26 in Hawkesbury, Cornwall had six Yzerman Division selections, led by forward Luc Beliveau and goaltender Colton Rheaume in the All-Star Game, plus Rockwell, McCuaig, Timothy Walker, and Caleb Gauthier in the Prospects Game.
