Long-time North Glengarry mayor Jamie MacDonald has confirmed that he will be seeking a third term as mayor in the October 26 elections.
“There are many projects that I would like to see to completion, including the lagoons in Alexandria and Maxville as well as Alexandria Main Street rebuild,” he said in a social media post. “We need to do more work in our rural hamlets and continue to provide residents quality services. We have had many problems with our garbage contract and I want to work with council to look for solutions to this issue.”
MacDonald was first elected as a councillor in 2006, later became deputy mayor in 2012 and was acclaimed mayor in 2018. He was also re-elected without opposition in 2022.
He served as Warden of SDG Counties in 2016, 2018 and 2023.
