The world’s top curlers hit the ice in Cornwall from September 10-14 for the 2025 AMJ Shorty Jenkins Classic. Hosted at the Cornwall Curling Centre, the prestigious bonspiel drew Olympic contenders and elite teams from Canada, Europe, Asia, and the U.S.
Team Epping went undefeated to win their fifth Shorty Jenkins title, beating defending champs Team Schwaller 5-3. On the women’s side, Team Xenia Schwaller topped Team Dupont (DEN) 8-5.
“This year’s field was one of the strongest we’ve seen,” said Co-Chair Kevin Baker, who has helped organize the event since 2016. “It’s a great event for the community-and for curling.”
Headliners included Team Homan, the top-ranked women’s team in the world, and Scotland’s Team Mouat, the men’s world number one. Athletes competed for over $100,000 in prize money and critical early-season tour points.
Co-Chair John DiLabio noted the tournament’s global reach: “A million people in Japan probably know where Cornwall is because of this event.”
Organized by a team of about 50 volunteers, the Shorty Jenkins Classic offers fans a rare chance to meet curling stars up close. “These players are accessible,” said Baker. “That’s the beauty of hosting an event like this in a small city.”
