Downtown Cornwall sparkled as more than 20 businesses came together for the annual Shop the Blocks event. Running from 5 to 9 p.m., the evening featured shopping, dining, giveaways, and live music at Pommier Square, creating a festive kickoff to the holiday season.
“We have many cafes, restaurants, retailers, and even services taking part,” said Chris Munro, owner of Life’s Little Pleasures and one of the event’s original organizers. “Each business is offering their own incentives, and shoppers can enter to win $1,000 in Downtown Dollars.”
Now in its 12th year, Shop the Blocks originated as an exclusive in-store holiday event and has grown into a collaborative downtown celebration. “It started as our Christmas open house,” Munro explained, “then we opened it up and invited the street to partake.”
Munro’s store is also marking a milestone — its 40th anniversary. “We’ve kept the flame going since I took over in 1999,” she said. Inside her shop, customers browsed seasonal clothing, home décor, chocolates, and resort wear.
Rainy drizzle didn’t stop the holiday spirit with many attending this year’s Shop the Blocks.
