The Township of North Stormont is scoring big with a $200,000 grant from the Ontario government to build a new sports court and rink in Finch. The project, located in DC Vollrath Park, is funded through the Ontario Trillium Foundation with the goal of promoting healthy living and community engagement in the area.
The multi-use court will feature an 80′ x 120′ cement pad outfitted with special tiles for basketball, pickleball, and ball hockey. Safety boards will surround the perimeter, and during the winter months, the surface will be flooded to serve as an outdoor ice rink for skating and sports.
“Whether it’s playing in a league or with friends, we know that sports brings SDSG together,” said MPP Nolan Quinn. “This court and rink will ensure that everyone can stay active and connected year-round.”
North Stormont Mayor François Landry added, “Thanks to the Ontario Trillium Foundation, we can offer a new space for recreation that brings our community together.”
With a design that supports all ages and abilities, the court will ensure inclusive access to recreational opportunities every season.
