Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario trustees received the 2024-2025 financial statements showing the board finished the year with a small in-year accumulated deficit of $329,096.
Total revenue was $240.9 million, coming mostly from provincial and legislative grants (about 91 per cent), plus municipal taxes, school-generated funds, and other revenue.
Expenditures totalled $241.2 million. Salaries and benefits accounted for 75 per cent of costs, with pupil accommodation at 14 per cent and transportation at 9 per cent, while administration accounted for approximately 2 percent.
The board stated that its accumulated deficit remained compliant within provincial limits.
The board reported steady enrolment growth in both elementary and secondary schools over the last four years, serving roughly 14,000 students in 39 elementary and 10 secondary schools across eight counties. CDSBEO pointed to pressures such as staff replacement costs, utilities, snow removal, software, and overall inflation. Officials said transparency and accountability in using public funds remain priorities.
