The Cornwall Colts will be looking to stop a small skid after back-to-back losses in CCHL Tier 1 junior A action. Cornwall fell 7-2 at home to the first-place Rockland Nationals on November 27, giving up three goals in the second period and being outshot 45-29 at the Ed Lumley Arena. Derek Rhodes and Colby Lauzon scored for the Colts, who went 0-for-5 on the power play.
Two nights later, the Colts were blanked 4-0 on the road by the Ottawa Junior Senators. Affiliate goaltender Sam Nolan turned aside all 22 Cornwall shots, while Ottawa struck three times in the opening frame and added an insurance marker early in the third. Ryan Velan made 21 saves in relief for Cornwall.
After being outscored 11-2 over their last two games, the Colts’ record slipped to 13-11-1. Cornwall remains third in the Yzerman Division, but sits only three points ahead of the Navan Grads, who hold six games in hand. The Colts will try to regain momentum at home on Thursday, December 4, when they host the Hawkesbury Hawks at the Ed Lumley Arena. Puck drop is 7:30 p.m.
