Pommier Square in downtown Cornwall was rocking with music and costumes as Zumba with Christal brought a high-energy Holiday Character Jam to the corner of Pitt and Second, under the clock. Led by instructor Christal Bowen and emcee Stacy McPhail, a crowd of families and friends danced along as Christmas favourites blasted through the speakers.
Characters straight “from the North Pole” – including Anna, Elsa, Santa, Buddy the Elf, Jovi, the Grinch, and Cindy Lou – mingled with the crowd for photos and hugs. Volunteers known as the Elevated Elves served hot chocolate, while a trunk quickly filled with donated toys for Sparky’s Toy Drive.
Cornwall police officers also stepped in front of the crowd to lead a song with the Zumba crew, drawing big cheers. Bowen thanked everyone who donated, danced, or cheered, along with videographer Billy Piette and local jeweller André Pommier for welcoming the group back to their old downtown stomping ground.
“What an absolutely magical day downtown, packed with Christmas cheer, big smiles, and the kind of Zumba energy that warms you from the inside out,” Bowen said. “When we come together, magic happens.”
