The Fondation Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation has announced a major gift from the Wielinga Family, recognized as a Legacy Builder, given in memory of Georges and Adrienne Lanthier, local business pioneers who supported the hospital from its early days.
Thanks to donors like the Wielinga Family, the foundation has now reached 43 per cent of its fundraising goal toward acquiring a new CT scanner, helping patients access timely, advanced diagnostic care.
When asked about the amount of the contribution, Frédérique Théorêt, Executive Director of the Fondation HGMH Foundation, said, “Out of respect for the family’s wishes, we are not able to disclose the exact amount of the donation. But for context, at the Foundation, a Legacy Builder gift is any donation of $500,000 or more.”
She noted, “Major gifts like this are vital to our hospital’s mission. The Wielinga Family’s generosity shows their commitment to our community and honours the lasting legacy of Georges and Adrienne Lanthier.”
The family’s support is recognized on the foundation’s donor wall, celebrating donors who make a lasting impact on patient care and the future of the hospital.
In 2024, the Alexandria hospital launched a fund-raising campaign to raise $3.1 million in three years to buy a computerized tomography (CT) scanner.
