The Community Drop-In program at Salem United Church in Summerstown has been busy knitting toques and scarves, crocheting hats and neck warmers and purchasing warm winter socks and mittens, all of which will be donated to Centre 105 and Agape Centre.
In total, over 150 items will be donated to help keep people warm this winter.
A large box of nonperishable items has also been collected and will be donated to a family in need in South Glengarry.
When asked why program participants donated their time and resources, they said they just want people who are less fortunate to know that others are thinking of them during the difficult month of December. Salem Church Community Drop-In is funded in part by a grant from the Township of South Glengarry and everyone is welcome.
If interested, drop in on Tuesdays between 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. to play euchre or board games, weave milk bag sleeping mats or just enjoy conversation and laughter while savouring a “cuppa” of your choice and sweet treats.
