As we approach the Christmas season, I want to take a moment to reflect not on politics, but on what truly makes our community in Cornwall and SD&G so special: the people who step forward to help others.
This year has not been an easy one for many families. Rising costs, uncertainty, and personal challenges have made daily life more difficult for countless neighbours. Yet even in these trying times, the spirit of generosity and compassion continues to shine brightly across our region.
I want to sincerely thank the many service clubs, charitable organizations, faith groups, volunteers, and community leaders who work tirelessly to support those in need. From food banks and holiday meal programs to toy drives, warm clothing initiatives, and wellness supports, your efforts ensure that no one is forgotten during the Christmas season. You remind us that kindness is not measured by headlines, but by the quiet, consistent acts of care that change lives.
These organizations are often powered entirely by volunteers – people who give their time, energy, and resources simply because they believe in helping others. Their dedication strengthens our community and offers hope when it is needed most.
To everyone who has donated, volunteered, or checked in on a neighbour this season, thank you. You are making a real difference!
On behalf of my family and my staff team, I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a safe, healthy, and hopeful New Year. May the season bring warmth, peace, and renewed optimism to you and your loved ones
