A small group of local residents welcomed 2026 with a brisk five-minute polar dip in the St. Lawrence River at the Cornwall Boat Launch, braving the sunny -15°C weather. Among them were Cassandra Forget-Stuckless and her husband Ryan, who have made cold water plunges a shared tradition for six years. “Following our introduction to polar bear dips through Lucy Hill Fitness, Ryan and I have returned to the water together year after year,” said Forget-Stuckless. “What began as a challenge became a shared space for healing and growth, side by side, breath by breath.”
This year’s dip held special meaning as their first as a married couple. “For us, this is more than a cold dip. It is a ritual of trust, a moment of renewal, and a celebration of resilience,” she added.
