The Alzheimer Society of Cornwall and District hosted its annual Soup’s On fundraiser at the Army, Navy and Air Force Veterans Club, where guests sampled soups from cooks in Community and Professional divisions and voted for their favourites. Southbridge Cornwall’s Butter Chicken soup claimed both the Judges’ and People’s Choice awards in the Professional category. In the Community Division, SDG Taekwondo’s Creamy Potato, Bacon & Corn won over the judges, while the RCMP’s Hamburger Soup, served by staff including George Knezevic, earned the people’s top pick. “This event is a great way to mix professional chefs and community members,” said Executive Director Donna MacGillivray. “Money raised helps sustain our local programs and services.” Board member and judge Marsha Sylvia added, “Every soup has been great-everyone brought their best game. The room is full, and the energy is incredible.” Judges included MP Eric Duncan and radio host Dan Allaire.
