Water out of a municipal tap costs an extremely minute amount. A cupped hand of water from a forest spring is absolutely free. A small bottle of water at the supermarket costs about 50 cents. At a bar, the same small bottle costs $2. If you order it at a hotel or at a fine restaurant, it can cost up to $4. At the airport, it can cost up to $5. The water out of the tap, or in the bottle, is the same. The only thing that changes is the location. Each location gives a different value to the same product.
When you feel worthless, when you think you are worth nothing, and when everyone around you tends to put you down, change your location and those with whom you associate. Don’t stay where you are.
Have the courage to change and go to a setting where you are valued for who you truly are, and what talents, skills and knowledge you possess. Surround yourself with people who recognize your true worth. Don’t settle for the setting you are in.
Think ahead. If you’re out for a stroll, take drinking water in a reuseable canteen. We always have a jug of drinking water with us when we go out for a drive. It’ll come in handy for a variety of uses. The river or lake we paddle upon is not usually safe to drink. I wonder if Samuel Taylor Coleridge ever canoed. We agree with his, “Water, water everywhere, but never a drop to drink.” Our canoe has paddled in the undrinkable salt water of the Atlantic and Pacific. Drinking water always comes with us. An ice box containing drinking water is a treasure and an absolute necessity on a hot day.
As American Express started reminding us in 1979, “Don’t leave home without it.”
