Holy Trinity Catholic Secondary School swimmers turned in standout performances at OFSAA in Windsor, with Hailey McDonald earning two bronze medals. The Grade 11 swimmer placed third in both the Senior Girls 50m freestyle and 50m backstroke. “It was a great experience. It was a lot of fun to see all the different schools from across Ontario at the pool,” said McDonald. “I was very happy with my times and proud of my results.” She added it was “great that HT now has a swim team” to represent Cornwall. All three Falcons improved their times from EOSSAA and moved up from their seedings at provincials. Grade 9 swimmer Adele Van Loon finished 14th in the Open Girls 200m freestyle. “Racing for my school was a great new experience,” she said, after lowering her personal best by just over two seconds and climbing from the low 20s in seeding. Adele competes with the Pointe-Claire Swim Club and hopes to pursue the sport at the highest level. Exchange student Tom Dominik, from Switzerland, also advanced in the Senior Boys 50m backstroke. “It was a lot of fun to represent HT,” he said after significantly improving his time and position, moving from 30th to 23rd.
