Indigenous students from across the region gathered at the A’nowara’kó:wa Arena for the inaugural Indigenous Student Career Fair, hosted by the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne and the Saint Regis Mohawk Tribe.
The event brought together nearly 90 exhibitors, offering Grades 7-12 and post-secondary students the chance to explore careers in fields such as health, communications, environment, emergency response, and more. Participants came from schools in Akwesasne, Cornwall, Massena, and Salmon River, along with homeschool communities.
Through hands-on conversations and interactive displays, students connected directly with employers, organizations, and post-secondary institutions, gaining insight into potential career paths and training opportunities both within and beyond their communities.
A Career Passport activity encouraged students to visit booths throughout the day, with prizes including laptops, tablets, and gift cards awarded through draws.
The fair highlighted the range of opportunities and pathways available to Indigenous youth.
