SDG Counties public works operator Isaac Barr earned top honours at the Eastern Ontario Road Supervisors Association (EORSA) ROADEO held in Matilda, showcasing the precision and skill required in municipal road maintenance operations.
Barr, who works out of the St. Andrews patrol garage, captured first place during the regional competition, which tested operators on maneuvering heavy municipal equipment through obstacle courses focused on safety, control, and accuracy.
Barr scored 367 out of a possible 370 points in the competition.
The ROADEO challenged participants to complete a series of maneuvers including a safety inspection, serpentine course, right-hand turn, backing exercises, diminishing clearance, keyhole navigation, and table-and-cone precision tests.
The annual ROADEO brings together municipal public works staff from across Eastern Ontario to demonstrate professional driving and equipment-handling abilities. The event highlights the important work performed by municipal road crews throughout the year, particularly during winter maintenance operations.
