Nearly 100 anglers cast their lines for a cause during the annual Fishing for a Cause Pike Tournament at the Blue Anchor Restaurant in Summerstown. The long-running charity event raised $4,083 for the Alzheimer Society of Cornwall and District.
Now in its third decade, the tournament drew 96 registered anglers competing for prizes based on the heaviest pike caught between the Cornwall Dam and Valleyfield Dam. Glenn Amellotte claimed first place with a 16.12-pound pike, earning the $500 top prize. Steve Bean finished second with a 15.06-pound catch, while Steve Hehir placed third at 14.97 pounds.
The tournament was organized by Denis Guay, alongside Corey Wheeler and Corey Lalonde. Guay took over leadership of the event from his father, who founded the fundraiser more than 20 years ago.
“The Alzheimer Society of Cornwall & District is incredibly grateful for the continued support of Denis Guay, Corey Wheeler, Corey Lalonde, the dozens of event sponsors, and every angler who participated,” said Taylor Seguin, Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications. “Community events like this show the incredible impact that can happen when people come together for a great cause.”
