The first of four 2026 Meet Me on Main Street events took place in the hamlet of Glen Robertson. Put together through a partnership between the Township of North Glengarry and the Glen Robertson Recreation Committee, this is an opportunity to bring business, council and community together in a relaxed atmosphere.
Stephanie MacRae, Director of Community Services for the Township, said she was so impressed with the efforts of the Recreation Committee, saying it was evident the pride the committee takes in running a successful event.
The gathering included a classic car display, vendor tables, including Anne Thevenot who is raising funds for the Terry Fox Foundation, and entertainment by BackTracks, who played music in both official languages. The event also had a special unveiling of an over-sized Muskoka chair painted to resemble the Canadian flag. Mathieu Aubin and wife Coralie, owners of the Home Hardware in Alexandria, donated the wood and store staff donated time to put the chair together. The Barclay family then painted the seat – a real partnership community project.
More Meet Me on Main Street will happen June 6 in Dunvegan, July 9 in Maxville and July 23 in Alexandria.
