The Cornwall Colts are bringing home a familiar face-naming Grant Cooper as head coach for the 2025-26 season.
A native of Cornwall, Cooper captained the Colts during his junior hockey days, tallying 83 goals and 179 points across five seasons. His breakout year in 2016-17 earned him a spot on the CCHL First-Team All-Star roster and recognition as the league’s Outstanding Graduating Player.
Following junior hockey, Cooper played NCAA Division 1 hockey with Clarkson University before turning professional. He joined the Reading Royals of the ECHL, and later played overseas in the UK with the Leeds Knights and Belfast Giants.
After retiring from professional play, Cooper returned to the region to coach with the Char-Lan Rebels and the Glengarry Brigade.
Now, he’s back where it all began, and soon, after renovations are done, he’ll be standing behind the bench of the home team at the Ed Lumley Arena.
With local roots and a wealth of hockey experience, Cooper is set to lead the next generation of Colts talent.
