Bienvenue!
Over 180 newcomers were welcomed at a special community event held September 5 at the Centre Charles-Émile-Claude. Organized by Cornwall’s Welcoming Francophone Community in partnership with the City of Cornwall, the evening offered food, music, and helpful information for newly arrived francophone residents.
Mayor Justin Towndale said the event reflected the city’s values. “Cornwall is a city that takes pride in its openness and diversity. We want every new resident to feel at home and supported as they build their future here.”
Benjamin Mulaji Mukadi, Coordinator of the CFA Project, said the event helps newcomers connect to services. “Our job is to give newcomers all the information they need-how to get housing, jobs, healthcare-and help them build a life here in French.”
ACFO-SDG board president Jasmine Bernier said the event creates space for connection. “Events like this bring everybody together. They help people know who’s part of the city and what we can offer them.”
