A new era for fire prevention and response in Cornwall has begun with the official opening of the new Cornwall Fire Services Headquarters at Brookdale Avenue and Tollgate Road. The 19,860-square-foot facility, designed to serve the community for the next 50 years, features a five-bay apparatus room with two extended bays built to accommodate 100-foot aerial ladder trucks.
“This new Headquarters for our Fire Services is an investment in enhanced safety for our residents,” said Mayor Justin Towndale. “The location helps improve coverage for the northern part of our community and Highway 401.”
Deputy CAO and Fire Chief Matthew Stephenson called the opening “a milestone” for the city. “With advanced technology, improved training resources, and enhanced emergency response capabilities, this facility will enable our firefighters to serve Cornwall more efficiently and effectively.”
Around 100 people attended the grand opening, and an open house is planned in the coming weeks, offering residents a chance to tour the new headquarters, meet Sparky the Fire Dog, and learn about fire safety.
