Trinity Church was transformed into a hauntingly beautiful concert hall recently as organist Owen Spicer led a spine-tingling evening of Halloween music. The event, lit by candlelight and filled with costumes, welcomed all ages for a festive pre-Halloween celebration.
“It’s a really eclectic bunch of music,” said Spicer, who has been playing the organ for over 13 years. “We have selections from the 16th century to the 21st century, and some little film and movie bonbons interspersed in between.”
The audience was treated to eerie organ melodies, live video of Spicer’s performance on screen, and special musical guests, who added vocals to the mix.
Proceeds from the concert support Trinity’s music ministry, specifically a new children’s choir. “It’s an opportunity for children ages 7 to 13 to get a free musical education,” Spicer explained.
With a suggested donation of $20 and a table of Halloween treats at intermission, the evening was a whimsical celebration of music just before Halloween.
