The 2025 Cornwall Culture Fest Community Cookbook made its official debut at this year’s festival on Saturday, September 13, featuring 25 culturally rich recipes submitted by residents of Cornwall, SDG, and Akwesasne. Each copy, priced at $20, helps fund the 2026 edition of the festival, with only 100 printed copies available.
“This cookbook is more than just food, it’s a celebration of our diverse community,” said Amy Malyon, a member of the Culture Fest organizing committee. “We did a call-out to the public for submissions and included stories about where the recipes come from, what they mean, and why they matter.”
One of Amy’s favourite submissions was a Venezuelan arepa recipe. “What I thought was really cool is that you can have it for breakfast, lunch, dinner, or as an appetizer. It all depends on what you stuff it with.”
Malyon emphasized the cookbook’s deeper meaning. “Some of these recipes have been passed down through generations. One didn’t even have measurements-it was about how it smells and makes you feel while cooking.”
Proceeds will support next year’s festival. “We’re strictly volunteer-run, and this kind of grassroots fundraising helps us grow,” she added.
