Curlers hit the ice for a cause as Rachel’s Kids hosted its first Curling for Kids Charity Bonspiel and Dinner at the Cornwall Curling Centre. It was a full day of friendly competition, food, and fundraising in support of children and families.
“This is our first, what we’re hoping will be annual, Curling for Kids event,” said board member and organizing committee member Jonah Deschamps. “All of the profits from the event are going to go towards our various programs that we do here in town.” Fourteen full teams registered, generating about $5,800, with a silent auction, door prizes, and sponsorships expected to push the total toward $8,000. Rachel’s Kids, founded by Cornwall dentist Dr. Rachel Navaneelan, supports children locally and globally through health, wellness, and education initiatives, a fostering program, and the Rachel’s Kids House of Hope. The organization also spearheaded Cornwall’s fully accessible Park of Hope.
The winning team featured John Cleary, Dom Marceau, Steph Marceau, and Connor Dixon.
