The Cornwall Colts kicked off 2026 with a third consecutive loss, falling 5-1 to the Brockville Braves on January 2 at the Brockville Memorial Centre.
Adam Walker scored Cornwall’s lone goal midway through the first period, assisted by Alex Brown and Brandon Rockwell. The Braves responded with three first-period goals and never looked back, outshooting the Colts 42-24. Goaltender Colton Rheaume made 37 saves in the loss. Brockville’s Kimani Eccleston led all scorers with two goals and was named the game’s first star.
With the defeat, Cornwall’s record drops to 17-17-1, holding 35 points and sitting third in the Yzerman Division. However, both the Hawkesbury Hawks (2 points back with two games in hand) and the Navan Grads (4 points back with seven games in hand) are closing in.
The Colts will look to rebound at home on Thursday, January 8, when they host the league-leading Rockland Nationals at the Ed Lumley Arena. Rockland holds a dominant 29-2 record and currently sits atop both the division and the league. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
