The new Cornwall Fire Station turned into a stylish “girls’ night out” as over 150 guests gathered for the sold-out Bags and Bubbly fundraiser in support of BGC Cornwall/SDG. Held inside the apparatus bay among gleaming fire trucks, attendees sipped bubbly, enjoyed gourmet bites, and shopped a curated collection of premium handbags sold at steep “fire sale” discounts. “This is a one-time event,” said Kristina Allard, Director of Operations and Development at BGC Cornwall/SDG. “We received an anonymous donation of about 300 authentic, high-end items. It’s been an amazing opportunity to raise funds for our youth programming.” All proceeds will support teen drop-in programs for Grades 7-12 in Cornwall, Winchester, and Alexandria-filling a gap after recent funding cuts. The event was staffed by around 50 volunteers, including 10 to 15 local firefighters. “Such a great idea for a fundraiser!” said attendee Melanie Boileau. “A fun night out with friends. What more can you ask for? It was such a lovely event!” Kristen MacDonell added. “So many smiling faces and lots of wonderful bags. A great night out with friends for a great cause!”
