The Social Development Council SDGCA continues to make a positive impact on youth in the community through a variety of engaging and free weekly activities. As part of the Cornwall Youth Space Initiative, teens ages 11 to 17 are invited to participate in Game Night every Monday from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at the Benson Centre’s Pommier Jewellers Room, and Chill Skate Night on Tuesdays from 4:50 to 5:50 p.m. at Pad 2 of the Benson Centre. In addition, Free Nerf Battles will take place in the Benson Centre Field House on Thursdays from 5 to 6 p.m.
“These activities continue because the youth of Cornwall keep showing up and asking for more,” shared Cassandra Forget-Stuckless, one of the organizers behind the initiative. “Week after week, we see young people from different schools coming together, building friendships, and creating a real sense of community. It’s incredible to watch them grow and flourish through these programs.” The initiative is a response to growing concerns about youth wellbeing and limited opportunities for social connection. No registration is required, and all equipment is provided for Nerf events.
Each event is free and aims to offer youth a fun, safe space to connect and belong.
