The Kenyon Agricultural Society (KAS) has been awarded $200,000 through the Ontario Trillium Fund. The capital grant will be put towards electrical service upgrades at the Maxville Fairgrounds, modernizing the venue to ensure it is equipped to better hold community activities and unlocking opportunity for hosting expanded events.
The project will ensure the concession area for all the food trucks, as well as the large entertainment tent, have modern electric systems. In addition, underground electrical systems will be installed and extend into the infield to permit larger stages for events and even bigger bands at the home of the Glengarry Highland Games.
From two indoor venues, one that can host 500 people and the other that can accommodate 100 guests, to the iconic vintage grandstands overlooking the track area and centre field, the Fairgrounds play an integral role in the community for hosting the annual fair, festivals, weddings, family events, dog agility and horse shows.
In addition, there are two large show barns, a baseball diamond, soccer fields and children’s play area located at the grounds. The KAS says it has over 500 volunteers helping to maintain the facilities and orchestrate the events that take place on the grounds.
