The second Annual Bingo, Booze, Bites and Bags! fundraiser filled the Best Western as more than 200 attendees gathered for an evening of games, food, and community support for Rachel’s Kids. “You buy a ticket, you get some drinks, you get some food, and you get to play bingo to win purses and cash prizes,” said treasurer Crystal MacLennan, noting the event “sold out again” after strong interest last year.
The move to a larger venue reflects the fundraiser’s growing popularity. “We definitely had a much bigger interest-people wanted to bring their friends,” added secretary Madison McDonald. Founder Dr. Rachel Navaneelan said seeing a packed room was no surprise: “This community has always supported us… I’m very, very delighted.”
Navaneelan credited the board and volunteers for making the night possible. “Nobody’s paid-we all volunteer, and everything goes to the kids,” board member Lexa MacGregor emphasized. Navaneelan said the organization recently granted a wish to a young local cancer patient through its Small Moments of Joy program, adding, “If we can’t help children move along and become great citizens… what else can we do?”
