The Cline House Gallery has announced the final two award recipients from its 4th Annual Juried Exhibition, which ran from Jan. 29 to Feb. 28.
Darryl Kicul received the Mayor’s Choice Award for his sculpture Phoenix House, crafted from a single piece of cottonwood bark.
Described as enchanting and rich in storybook charm, the work captured the imagination of Mayor Justin Towndale during his visit to the exhibition.
The intricately detailed piece highlights how natural materials can be transformed through vision and skill.
Meanwhile, Rhonda Evans earned the People’s Choice Award for her textile landscape The Artist’s Journey. Built from thousands of layered threads, the piece resembles a sweeping coastal scene from a distance, while revealing intricate “thread painting” up close.
More than 500 votes were cast by visitors, with volunteers assisting in the count.
The four juried winners were Alexa Josee Giroux, who received Best of Show, along with Jurors’ Choice recipients Christine Mathers Thompson, Susanne Strater, and Elisabeth Hewlett.
