The St. Joseph’s Catholic Secondary School Panthers capped an exceptional run with an EOSSAA silver medal for curling, their only loss of the season coming in the championship match. Coach Sylvain Girard said the result reflects remarkable growth from a young roster. “We won the SDG title, went 4-1 at EOSSAA, and took home a hard-fought silver medal. The entire team returns next season. The future looks very bright indeed.” Girard praised the group’s poise under pressure, highlighting their semifinal win. After surrendering a lead, the Panthers regrouped for a dramatic finish. “With tensions soaring, they showed tremendous resiliency. Ellie delivered a deadly accurate final shot to clinch it,” he said. Grade 10 skip Ellie Dupuis said competing at EOSSAA was “absolutely incredible.” She added that the semifinal moment will stay with her: “I had to make it to win, and right before I threw it, my team told me how proud they were. I made the shot, and they went crazy.” The young talented roster also includes vice Trinity Beckstead (Grade 10), second Karlena Beckstead (Grade 9), lead Saanvi Uniyal (Grade 11), and lead Karagan King (Grade 9).
