The South Glengarry Fire Department is buying a pumper truck from Dependable Emergency Vehicles, of Brampton, for $565,061, the lowest of four bids received on the vehicle.
The township had budgeted $650,000 for the truck that will replace a 2001 GMC pumper at the North Lancaster station.
The other submissions were City View Specialty Vehicles, $662,400; Fort Garry Fire Trucks, $627,674; and Battleshield Industries, $738,852, Fire Chief Dave Robertson informed council.
The pumper is equipped with a pump that can spray close to 3,000 litres per minute using water from municipal hydrants or using water stored in the pumper truck’s tank.
