In 1921, advertising executive Fred R. Barnard claimed, “A picture is worth a thousand words.” Therefore, my collage of 14 photos must be worth far more. Similarly, I claim that a lick on my extended hand or an admiring gaze from a dog can be worth more than a thousand words of praise or a thousand slices of apple pie topped with ice cream.
Like a scene from Fred Heatherton 1944 song “Big ones, small ones, some as big as your head,” there’s a parade of dogs that goes by our front window. Some are tuggers, some need to be tugged. I admire the well-trained ones that are off -leash, but walk beside the one they admire. They frequently gaze upward at their masters, seeking approval.
If you’re interested in seeing well-behaved, well-socialized and playful Shepherds, Goldens, Dachshunds and Chihuahuas, take a look at Morrisburg’s two-ring circus dog run. There, “Stoop and scoop” is followed to the letter of the law. If you want to see what Ingleside has to offer, spend some time sitting on the bench that’s in front of the K0C 1M0 post office.
