Cornwall will host Curling Ontario’s Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships from January 10-17, 2027, bringing the province’s top teams to the Cornwall Civic Complex for a week of high-level competition and community celebration.
The event, co-hosted by the City of Cornwall and the Cornwall Curling Centre, will determine Ontario’s representatives for the Scotties Tournament of Hearts and the Montana’s Brier. Organizers say the championship will combine elite play with a fan-friendly format designed to enhance both the in-arena and broadcast experience.
Curling Ontario has introduced a refined competition structure for 2027, developed through feedback from athletes, coaches and stakeholders. The new format will feature eight teams per division, with five earning direct entry based on season-long CTRS performance. A full round robin will ensure each team meets head-to-head, followed by a single tie-breaker, semi-finals and a championship final.
“We’re thrilled to bring the best of Ontario curling to Cornwall,” said Matt Allen, Executive Director of Curling Ontario. “This new format rewards consistent performance and creates an engaging experience for athletes, fans and broadcasters.”
City officials say hosting the provincials is an opportunity to showcase Cornwall to visitors from across the province. Local organizers are also preparing to highlight the region’s strong curling tradition and volunteer base. “This championship is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our community, our incredible volunteer spirit, and our love of the game,” said Pam Lalonde. Rob Mahon added the club is ready “to make it a fantastic experience for everyone.”
