Laughter and fundraising came together for Comedy for a Cause in support of the Children’s Treatment Centre and in memory of Richard Allaire.
The event, featuring performances by comedians Dan Allaire, Rory Gardiner, Alex Wood, and Rick Lemieux, raised more than $8,100 for the CTC. Organizer Dan Allaire said the evening was both a fundraiser and a personal tribute to his late father, Richard Allaire, who played an important role in shaping his storytelling and comedy skills.
“I wanted to do this to help the centre but also to honour my father’s memory,” he said. “He never got to see me do standup, and I learned how to punch up a good story listening to him. He’s definitely the reason I have that skill to do comedy.”
