After receiving a record number of applications, Stormont-Dundas-Glengarry united counties council has agreed to allocate $254,139 for 18 projects under the Regional Incentives Program.
This year, staff received 25 applications for the program, totaling $520,977.15 in requested funding. This is the largest number of applications received since the program was launched in 2018 and businesses from each municipality are represented. The total investment value of all proposed projects was $2,529,837.92.
When the number of eligible projects was reduced to 18, the total funding request of $409,557 far exceeded the $250,000 budget.
The judging committee decided to award candidates 70 per cent of their asks.
Council agreed to increase the original $250,000 budget by $4,139 to cover the approved proposals.
Since its launch, the program has helped unlock more than $10 million in local investment, backing projects like breweries, farm expansions, and short term accommodations.
