The Martintown and District Horticultural Society recently held its annual plant and bake sale at the community centre. This is the biggest fundraising event for the Society, where the members hope to raise funds for the community planting projects. The chilly weather has delayed many perennials from poking their green stems above the earth, but keen gardeners lined up early to make their purchases.
The group sets of raising $2,000 to $3,000 which funds the purchase of plants and garden materials, costs for speakers, meetings and event space.
The society has 14 members on its executive and is directed by leadership teams. The society helps to beautify the village and surrounding area in South Glengarry. The organization continues to look for new members who enjoy gardening, the outdoors and who want to participate in enhancing their community.
