Six Tourism Ambassadors will help bring local history to life this summer at the Historic SDG Jail in Cornwall.
Leila Grant, Olivia Chafe, Ariel Colligan, Brooke Guindon, Mac Eamer, and Jaziah Meade have joined SDG Counties as seasonal staff, welcoming visitors and guiding tours through one of the region’s best-known heritage sites.
Throughout the summer, the ambassadors will introduce guests to the jail’s preserved cells, original 19th-century architecture, and stories of former inmates and staff. Built in 1833, the jail offers visitors a glimpse into early justice and daily life behind bars.
In addition to leading tours, the students will help promote tourism across SDG Counties by highlighting local attractions, events, and destinations throughout the region. The positions also provide hands-on experience in public engagement, heritage interpretation, and community service.
“We’re excited to welcome this year’s group of Tourism Ambassadors,” said SDG Counties Tourism Supervisor Karina Belanger. “Their energy and enthusiasm will enhance the visitor experience and help showcase the importance of preserving our local history.”
Residents and tourists are encouraged to visit the Historic SDG Jail this summer to meet the ambassadors and explore the site’s history.
