North Glengarry Fire Chief Matthew Roy has just been appointed as Deputy Fire Coordinator for SDG Counties at the request of the Fire Coordinator, South Glengarry Fire Chief Dave Robertson.
In addition to providing support to the Fire Coordinator, the Deputy Fire Coordinator will assist during large-scale or complex emergency situations, provide support for mutual aid or specialized rescue collaboration and participate in emergency planning and operational initiatives. Further, the Deputy Fire Coordinator is expected to attend regional fire services meetings and liaise with the Office of the Fire Marshal.
The appointment will allow North Glengarry Fire Services to serve in a leadership role at the regional level for emergency preparedness, fire services planning, specialized rescues and Mutual Aid agreements, while having input for new legislation on municipal fire operations.
Roy assured North Glengarry Council that the additional responsibilities would be balanced with his current duties.
