Members of the Cornwall and District Real Estate Board took part in a community cleanup across Cornwall recently, collecting trash and encouraging civic pride throughout the city.
Realtors from several local brokerages, including RE/MAX, Royal LePage, Century 21, and eXp Realty, volunteered for the initiative, which divided participants into multiple cleanup sections downtown and in surrounding areas. Organizers estimated roughly 40 to 50 people participated.
“We’re just trying to clean up the city, giving a hand and giving back,” said realtor Joel Duval. Volunteers collected cups, cans, cigarette butts, bottles, and larger discarded items, including a mattress. Duval said keeping the city clean benefits both residents and the local real estate market. “I think it’s important for Cornwall to be clean and we’re super happy to help out and contribute,” he said. Sheena Desjardins of Royal LePage Performance Realty said the event showed how local realtors can work together despite being competitors. “We want to help clean our city, to help the property values increase rather than decrease,” Desjardins said.
