The Social Development Council SDGCA hosted a Summer Social at Archie’s Family Golf Centre on August 25th, bringing together over 100 youth aged 11 to 17 for an afternoon of fun and music.
Thanks to support from the Building Safer Communities Grant, the event was completely free and featured karaoke, face painting, mini putt, snacks, and ice cream. Local talent helped bring the day to life, including Kamryn Frank of Reel Entertainment, Ryan and Amanda O’Neil of O’Neil Studios, and young entrepreneur Trinity, who offered face painting. Student volunteers also played a key role.
“For me, the best part of the day was seeing both new and familiar faces coming together-youth laughing, connecting, and simply enjoying themselves in a safe, welcoming, and inclusive space,” said Cassandra Forget, Youth Coordinator for the Social Development Council SDGCA. “Moments like this remind us why creating opportunities for young people to gather and have fun is so important.”
