The 11th annual Eastern Ontario Garlic Festival returned to Lamoureux Park on September 20, 2025, drawing hundreds of visitors on a cool, sunny day to celebrate local food, art, and community causes.
Organized by Brenda Norman of Kozroots Community Empowerment Projects, the event featured garlic growers, artisan vendors, live busker music at the clock tower, and a mural painting in honour of Lee Theodore at the Bandshell. Chef Jesse Bell led a garlic-themed tapas showcase, and attendees explored wellness offerings such as sound baths, reflexology, and Reiki.
“The idea was to celebrate garlic, of course, but also local agriculture, creativity, and community – all while supporting good causes,” said Brenda Norman.
Proceeds support local initiatives, including Maison Baldwin House and Norah’s Dream Fund. Baldwin House Executive Director Debbie Fortier was grateful for the support: “While admission is free, we collect donations at the gate and offer items at our booth. This year’s funds will help us open a new five-bed residential program for women escaping human trafficking.”
Norman added, “Success is seeing families walk through the park, meeting farmers and artists, and leaving saying, ‘Wow, that was more than I expected.'”
