The Cornwall Public Library celebrated its 130th anniversary with a month of commemorative events. Officially founded in 1895, the library has grown alongside the city, and during October, its legacy was on full display.
“We’re highlighting our history and our services in fun and meaningful ways,” said Pierre Dufour, Manager of Programming and Marketing. Festivities include historical building tours led by Community Engagement Coordinator Frank Burelle, where guests explore behind-the-scenes spaces and hear stories from the library’s past. A limited-edition anniversary library card, featuring an early 1900s photo of the former Carnegie Library, is available while supplies last.
Visitors can also take part in trivia contests, scavenger hunts, and social media posts featuring “130 Library Facts.” Dufour adds, “It’s about discovering what the library offers — past and present.”
