The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has invoked its mandate after a suspect was injured following an incident in Bainsville, near the Ontario-Quebec boundary.
November 18, at approximately 3:30 a.m., the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police responded to a single-vehicle collision involving a vehicle that had entered Ontario from Quebec on Highway 401.
“During the interaction, an edged weapon was seen, and officers discharged a less-lethal device. An individual was transported to hospital with minor injuries and was later released into police custody,” says the detachment.
