The Cornwall Service Club Council’s annual “Breakfast With Santa” served up joy and pancakes to hundreds of children and families at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 297. The free breakfast for kids and donation-based meal for adults fed over 500 people in just two hours, including hundreds of children eager to meet Santa Claus.
“It’s so special to see the smiles on the kids’ faces,” said Ralph Brunton, President of the Service Club Council. “There’s a long lineup just to see Santa. It’s all for the kids.”
With the Civic Complex salons unavailable, the event was hosted in a smaller venue than previous years, but Brunton said everything ran smoothly thanks to the help of numerous service clubs, including Rotary, Kinsmen, Kiwanis, Optimist, and Legion. Assistant coach Steve McIntyre and other coaches from the South Stormont Selects U11B team brought their players for team photos and bonding. “They love getting together and seeing Santa. It’s a great tradition,” said McIntyre.
