The Optimist Club of Cornwall is backing the Children’s Treatment Centre with a $10,000 donation to sponsor the CTC’s spring dinner and silent auction, and a 30th anniversary dinner planned in June. “We’re all about youth… a natural synergy,” said club president Louis Savard. CTC board member Don Fairweather said the centre provides free, confidential counselling for children who have experienced abuse and their families, relying on fundraising to support its $700,000 annual budget. The CTC, which receives about 120 referrals each year, runs lean, with volunteer receptionists, and most funding goes toward rent and professional counsellors.
