The Agapè Centre hosted its second annual “Kids Shop for Parents” day at its New For You Thrift Shoppe giving children a chance to pick Christmas gifts for their parents or caregivers in a dignity-style holiday shop. “This is our second annual kid shopping day, a nice partnership that we have with the Kinsmen Club of Cornwall,” said executive director Lisa Duprau.Kinsmen overed the cost of all gifts while volunteers helped kids shop. Registrations climbed to about 260 children this year, up from the first event, due to increased promotion and greater need. “It gives them a chance to put something under the tree for their parents,” she said. Kinsmen president Matthew LeDrew said the best part is seeing kids “happy” as they choose their gifts. Special events coordinator Rick Shaver said 17 volunteers were on site, with Kinsmen, Agape, and family supporters helping kids choose items, then wrap them in Christmas packaging with a card.
